Course Changes
Changing subjects during the year is not a decision to take lightly! Changing subjects can impact upon Secondary
Graduation, future career and tertiary goals and can also increase you workload. Changing a subject should only
be considered after careful thought and discussion with your Advocate, the relevant Educational Managers,
parents, teachers and possibly Student Development and Support Services.
In many cases students are better off keeping the subjects they already have. When a subject is changed the
student must be committed to catching up with the weeks of work they have already missed. This can be a difficult
task and involves additional pressure for the student.
Important Things To Consider
- Subject changes are generally not accepted after three weeks of the college year.
- Application forms need to be completed. These will take time to complete, as you will need the signatures
of a number of staff and your parents.
- The Application forms are available from the Student Services Desk. They must be returned there when
complete.
- Handing in a form does not mean that your subject change will automatically happen. A Deputy Principal
or Manager of Student Development and Support Services must approve this.
- You will be notified if the subject change is approved and will be issued with a new timetable. The new
timetable serves as your passport to the new subject.
- You must continue to attend your current subjects until a subject change has been approved.
Students requiring a course change will need to meet with Student Services.
